Takaaki Nakagami rode through the pain barrier to bravely finish the Grand Prix of Japan in front of his home fans on Sunday. Despite suffering immense discomfort from the hand injury he sustained in Aragon, the LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider battled through 24 laps of the Motegi circuit to take the chequered flag in 20th place in the MotoGP race.

Departing from the back of the grid, Taka got a solid start and made up positions to sit in 20th at the end of the first lap. While he then struggled to maintain a strong pace, the Japanese star courageously fought until the end to bring his bike home, just one week after undergoing surgery on his injured fingers.

Takaaki Nakagami – 20th

“It has been an amazing weekend at my home GP. Of course, the result was not what we were looking for, but I want to say a big thanks to all my fans who came to Motegi, it was definitely the best weekend of the season for me.

So thanks to my fans and all my team, I will try to recover as soon as possible and hopefully very soon I’ll be fit to ride the bike well. See you all again next year!”
